{review of} Yummi Pouch Reusable Food Pouches

yummy pouches main

Yummi Pouches are the creation of husband and wife team, Andy and Katie. After the birth of their daughter, they realized (like most parents) that they needed a way to feed her nutritious foods on the go... and so began Yummi Pouches. Not only are they super simple, easy to use, and cute, but they are also eco-friendly and cost-effective. You really can’t lose with a product like that.

We love that our reusable food pouches are both eco-friendly and budget-friendly! Yummi Pouches can help your family reduce household trash and save money at the same time! Our pouches are available in sets of 6 for $14.99, just under $2.50 per pouch. They can be used over and over again and filled with fresh, nutritious ingredients that you prepare yourself! We've already received a lot of feedback from customers who say they are super excited to find a food pouch that allows them to control the ingredients their kids eat, as well as an affordable option that is convenient to use on-the-go.

With my first child, I purchased canned baby food from the store. Combined with wanting organic choices, my grocery bill went through the roof. With my second child, I decided to make my own foods. While I loved the cost savings and the ability to customize what I wanted my baby to eat, I often struggled with ways to get my baby solids when we were out and about. I always liked the idea of food pouches, but they were even more expensive than the canned foods. The idea of reusable pouches is really a win-win for me!

{the verdict} Yummi Pouches - Brights

I began the process of making my baby food as I always do; peeling, cutting, steaming if necessary.  This round I made an apple and pear, sweet potatoes and spinach, carrots and kale and one with strawberries, blueberries, plums and peaches.  My little girl is a pretty easy-going baby, and I haven’t really found much difficulty in getting her to eat her veggies.  However, I can see how these pouches will come in handy when she becomes an “independent” toddler, giving me a chance to sneak in those greens!  I also love to add flax seed and chia seeds (at the suggestion of my friend Corinna on her blog, Track 8), and using the Yummi Pouch gives me the great opportunity to mix it right in.

Once the food was prepared, I poured each batch into a Yummi Pouch.  I had a little bit of a mess, as the pouch was a little too narrow for my blender, but it all worked out (you can also spoon it in).  From there I sealed the top and rinsed any residual mess off.  On the back of each pouch is a place to write in the date and the contents, however I didn’t have a fine tip erasable marker to fill this in with.  I only have 4 (so far!) so it was easy enough to remember the contents and prepared date.

When I gave them to my baby (8 months old) I had to mostly help her squeeze it into her mouth.  She has limited exposure to helping in her feeding processes.  But I loved how mess free it was and how easy it was to just grab and go!

When I was done with it, I simply opened the pouch, rinsed it and put it in the top rack of my dishwasher, face down.  Came out as good as new!

  • EASY!
  • Able to make your own combinations
  • Fun, bright colors
  • Perfect for on the go
  • BPA and Phthalate Free
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Reusable
  • Freezer safe - make a bunch and freeze for later use
  • Cost-efficient and budget friendly

{to consider}

  • Plastic on the tip is a little rough and tough on baby’s gums (they do sell additional accessories such as a PouchPop topper to solve this issue)
  • Only holds 6oz- for an older kid that might not be enough for one feeding, but great for a snack

I love this product and cannot wait to build my stash!  I will be purchasing the PouchPop as well, just so its not so rough on my baby’s mouth.  Excited to have Yummi Pouches in our lives.
